Brilliantly Birmingham Jewellery Festival returns to showcase record number of region's designer makers 24.10.2005

For the sixth year running, contemporary international jewellery festival Brilliantly Birmingham celebrates the jewellery designs of a record number of 50 exciting designer makers from the West Midlands from November 17th- December 24th. Exhibiting work in venues across the region, this year’s festival launch takes place at The MailBox, Birmingham on November 17th at 7pm. The opening will see an exhibition from last year’s Brilliantly Birmingham Jewellery Award winner, Wally Gilbert, a decorative artist who specialises in jewellery with highlight commissions including a De Beers diamond trophy for Ascot 2000. Following this, there will be an exciting catwalk event at Wharfside Street with the first collaboration of its kind between UCE’s (University of Central England in Birmingham) School of Jewellery and School of Fashion and Textiles. Models will be parading flamboyant outfits and dazzling jewellery created by students of both schools. All Brilliantly Birmingham exhibitions and fairs will be free of charge with the opportunity to meet designer makers and buy or commission work.
