Betty Pepper’s jewellery, rather than an accessory, is an extension of garment. The pieces are inspired by traditional jewellery techniques but translated into stitch, a comment on the importance of textile in everyday life ‘the fabrics of peoples lives’ and ‘the threads which hold them together’.

The jewellery lives in orphaned books found in charity shops, where it can hide, illustrating the adage ‘never judge a book by its cover’.
