Naoko first studied Jewellery in Tokyo, before completing a degree in Jewellery and Silversmithing at Edinburgh College of Art, where she was awarded a First Class degree. Naoko says, ‘when asked why I use paper in my jewellery, I can not give a clear answer. I do however feel very natural working and playing with paper and take an almost child-like joy in doing so. Or maybe the reason is because of my absence from Japan for three years, perhaps I am feeling nostalgia for all things Japanese.’
